Explaining radicalizationprocesses in anti-vax protests during pandemic times: A relational approach to violence

This lecture locates radicalization processes of anti-vax protests by looking at the broader protest cycles activated by the pandemic crisis. Defining anti-vax protests as an example of regressive contentious politics during an emergency critical juncture, Donnatella della Porta will look at the relational dynamics as well as at the cognitive processes during various waves of protests. Based on protest event data as well as video data and frame analyses on the Italian case, the presentation will also expand on a cross national comparative perspective.
